First contestant to compete without makeup, Miss England finalist makes history

When a British pageant contestant decided not to wear makeup while walking the stage, she stood out from the crowd.

The semi-final round of the Miss England 2022 Pageant, which was held on Monday, August 22, at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences in London, was attended by Melisa Raouf, 20, who entered the competition earlier in the year.

Raouf was one of 16 competitors who advanced to the finals out of the forty women who were invited to compete in the qualifier, according to the contest's press release.

Raouf won the title of Bare Face Top Model at the Miss London 2022 competition, which was held a month before she was a finalist for Miss England.

Raouf received praise from Cetuem Cosmetic, a London-based natural skincare company that sponsored the Bare Face Top Model Award, for her makeup-free campaign.

Raouf’s Bare Face 2022 profile on the Miss England website says she aims to continuously promote natural beauty because she wants to help women feel empowered and comfortable in their own skin without makeup.
