Hip-hop legend Coolio, well known for the 1990 song "Gangsta's Paradise," passes away at age 59.
Los Angeles rapper Coolio passed away on Wednesday
according to his longtime manager Jarez Posey, who confirmed the news to ABC News.
Coolio gained national attention in the 1990s with his Grammy-winning single "Gangsta's Paradise." He was 59.
According to Posey, Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was found unconscious
while at a friend's residence on Wednesday afternoon after he failed to emerge from the restroom.
Although the cause of death has not been established, an inquiry is still ongoing.
As word of Coolio's passing spread, condolences from admirers, friends, and other hip-hop celebrities flooded social media.
