Every time a new Sith fighter appears in Star Wars, it appears that they are equipped with a different take on the traditional lightsaber. 

 whereas the Sith use a much wider range of weaponry. But this isn't just a coincidence; it's an important component of how the two rival factions view the recognisable, "beautiful" weapon.

Darth Vader appears to be using a conventional lightsaber, but in reality, it is dual-phased, using two Kyber crystals to control the blade's reach.

Vader's Sith Order ancestors are typically less conventional. Darth Tyrannous utilises a curved hilt that fits his fighting style, Darth Sidious carries two lightsabers simultaneously, 

Darth Maul wields his recognisable double-bladed'saber, and even Rey's Sith form is depicted using a levered lightsaber. Star Wars has also seen dark side followers wielding lightwhips,

 lightsabers modelled from tonfa sticks, and a lightsaber parasol. Kylo Ren's lightsaber is infamous for having a blazing crossguard,
