According to a United Nations assessment by legal experts

 Russian troops have raped and tortured minors in Ukraine, carried out a "substantial number" of executions,

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry,

 which was established by the U.N. to investigate how the war was conducted,

released its sobering findings on Friday in Geneva,

listing numerous violations and atrocities that occurred in four different areas.

Since beginning the assault on February 24, Russia has denied committing war crimes and defended its handling of the conflict.

According to Russian officials, Ukrainians who moved to Russia did so voluntarily.
