When a Hurricane Hunter is inside a storm, this is what they observe


Hurricane hunters are in the air, flying through the centre of Hurricane Ian as it approaches the Florida shore.

The planes make observations that satellites are unable to

they transmit those readings to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center with each pass.

A University of Miami meteorologist named Jason Dunion is in charge of the NOAA's hurricane field programme for 2022.

He talked about the experience travelling on a P-3 Orion as it passes through a cyclone's eyewall
